Itala Aguilera
Tierra Mojada (Wet Land) (2025-present)
Tierra Mojada (Wet Land) is a design/video/performance project in which the artist creates a series of "stripteases" by wearing clothes that get dissolved, degraded, or eaten: from water soluble clothing that gets washed off or dissolves under the rain, to edible shoes that get eaten off of her feet. Itala activates the pieces in performances and records them on videos made in collaboration with filmmaker Joshua Bogatin.
The first series of videos constituted "Tierra Mojada (Wet Land)", Itala Aguilera's solo show at Flux IV, from November 15, 2025 to January 11, 2026. Click here to read the exhibition essay commissioned to Lucrecia Arcos Alcaraz.
This project is being made thanks to the support of the New York State Council on the Arts and Flux Factory.
